THE SCRIPTURE

SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE

“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” — Genesis 5:24

“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” — Hebrews 11:5

THE SECRET THAT ENOCH KNEW

There is a profound, hidden truth in the life of Enoch that most believers overlook. It was not his perfection that made him walk with God — it was his need for God.

If Enoch had never realised that he needed God — if he had thought he was sufficient in himself, if he had believed he could live a good life on his own — he would never have walked with Him. He would have lived like everyone else — chasing the wind, striving in his own strength, and eventually passing away without ever knowing the One who holds eternity.

What motivated Enoch to walk with God was not his strength — it was his emptiness. Not his sufficiency — but his need.

NEED IS THE GATEWAY TO WALKING WITH GOD

Pride says: “I am fine. I can manage. I don’t need anyone.” — and pride walks alone.

Humbleness says: “I am not enough. I cannot do this on my own. I need You.” — and humbleness walks with God.

Enoch lived in a generation that was corrupt, violent, and distant from God. He saw the darkness around him. He felt the weight of living in a world that had forgotten its Creator. And in the middle of all that — he came to a conclusion: I cannot survive this life, I cannot please God, I cannot find meaning or purpose — unless I walk with Him.

That was the turning point. His need became his invitation. His emptiness became his address. His hunger became his highway.

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” — Matthew 5:6

You cannot be filled if you do not first admit you are empty. You cannot walk with God if you do not first acknowledge you cannot walk alone. Enoch walked with God because he needed Him — and that need was the most powerful thing in his life.

WHAT IT ACTUALLY MEANS TO WALK WITH GOD

Walking with God is not a one-time decision. It is not a religious duty. It is not something you do when you feel like it. It is a daily, moment-by-moment acknowledgment: I cannot do this without You.

  • When you wake up — I need You, Lord.
  • When you face a decision — I need Your wisdom.
  • When you face opposition — I need Your strength.
  • When you are afraid — I need Your peace.
  • When you are joyful — I need Your presence.

Enoch did not walk with God because he had it all figured out. He walked with God because he knew he had nothing without Him. And because he needed God every step of the way — God became every step of the way.

“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” — Amos 3:3

The agreement begins with this: I need You, and You are all I need. When you agree with that truth — the two of you start walking. And once you start walking with God — He does not let you go.

THE REWARD OF THE WALK

Enoch walked with God — and then he was not, for God took him. He did not see death. He did not experience the grave. He simply walked so close to God that he crossed from time into eternity without stopping.

Why? Because he needed God more than he needed this world. He valued the presence of God more than he valued his own life. And when you value God above everything else — He becomes your destination. You do not just walk toward Him — you walk into Him.

“Ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart.” — Jeremiah 29:13

The secret is not in the perfection of your steps — it is in the sincerity of your need. God does not draw near to those who think they are sufficient. He draws near to those who know they are desperate.
