REFORM β€” WHO ARE THEY?

From the SCHOOL 🏫 OF EXCELLENCE ✨

πŸ“– SCRIPTURE FOUNDATION

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” β€” Romans 12:2

“And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind.” β€” literal rendering

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” β€” 2 Corinthians 5:17

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” β€” Psalm 51:10

πŸ’‘ THE MEANING OF “REFORM”

Reform means: to change for the better, to correct what is wrong, to remove faults, to restore to a better state. It comes from the Latin reformare β€” “to form again, to shape anew.”

But there is a critical difference between human reform and God’s true transformation:

πŸ”Ή 1️⃣ WHO ARE THE “REFORMED” β€” THE TWO KINDS

❌ OUTWARD REFORM β€” MAN’S WAY

– They change their actions but not their heart. They stop doing bad things β€” but their motives, pride, and self-righteousness remain the same.
– They follow rules, rituals, and appearances β€” but inside they are still empty, still proud, still dead to God.
– Jesus spoke of these: “These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.” (Matthew 15:8)
– They reform the outside β€” but never touch the inside. They look changed β€” but they are not changed. They are cleaned up β€” but not born again.

βœ… TRUE REFORMATION β€” GOD’S WAY

– They are not just reformed β€” they are TRANSFORMED. Not by their own effort β€” but by the Holy Spirit.
– “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” β€” this is not self-improvement β€” this is God working from the inside out.
– They are changed from the heart first β€” then their actions follow. The old nature is crucified with Christ β€” a new nature rises. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
– They do not just try to be better β€” they receive a NEW LIFE. It is not reformation β€” it is RESURRECTION.

πŸ”Ή 2️⃣ THE REFORMERS OF SCRIPTURE β€” WHO WERE THEY?

Throughout the Bible, God raised up reformers β€” people who called His people back to the true faith, back to humility, back to the Word of God:

– Noah β€” a preacher of righteousness, reforming a corrupt generation that had forgotten God
– Abraham β€” left the idols of his land to follow the true God β€” reformed his entire life by faith
– Moses β€” delivered Israel from Egypt, reformed their worship, brought them to God’s law
– David β€” restored the Ark, restored true worship, reformed the heart of the nation
– Elijah β€” stood against Baal worship, called Israel back to the one true God
– Josiah β€” the king who tore down idols, restored the Temple, and returned to God’s Word
– John the Baptist β€” “Prepare the way of the Lord” β€” the greatest reformer, calling people to repent and make their hearts ready
– JESUS β€” the ULTIMATE Reformer. He did not come to patch up the old system β€” He came to make all things new. He reformed religion into relationship, law into love, tradition into truth.

True reformers do not reform people to follow rules β€” they reform people to follow GOD. They do not bring new laws β€” they bring NEW LIFE.

πŸ”Ή 3️⃣ THE REFORMED CHURCH β€” HISTORY

In church history, “Reformed” also refers to the Protestant Reformation (1500s) β€” led by men like Martin Luther, John Calvin, and others. They sought to reform the church, calling it back to the Bible, back to grace, back to Christ alone:

– Sola Scriptura β€” Scripture alone, not church tradition, is our authority
– Sola Fide β€” saved by faith alone, not by works
– Sola Gratia β€” by grace alone, not by merit
– Solus Christus β€” Christ alone, not priests or saints, is our mediator
– Soli Deo Gloria β€” glory to God alone

This was a great movement of God β€” but even then, the true reformation is not in a name or a system β€” it is in the heart changed by the Holy Spirit.

πŸ”Ή 4️⃣ WHO ARE THE REFORMED TODAY?

True reformed people are not those who just belong to a “Reformed” church or follow a certain doctrine. They are those who:

– Have been truly changed from the inside out β€” not just cleaned up on the outside
– Are being renewed in their minds daily β€” they don’t stay the same; they grow, they change, they become more like Jesus
– Are humble enough to keep being reformed β€” they never think they have “arrived”; they always say: “Lord, change me more. Show me more of Your truth. Make me more like You.”
– Call others back to the true, simple, powerful Gospel β€” not to traditions, not to man-made rules, but to Jesus and His finished work
– Let God reform them every single day β€” because true reformation is a lifelong process, not a one-time event

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” β€” 2 Corinthians 3:18

πŸ™ PRAYER β€” BEING TRULY REFORMED

“Father, I don’t want just outward reformation β€” I want inward TRANSFORMATION. Change my heart, not just my habits. Renew my mind, not just my actions. Make me new from the inside out. Reform me daily β€” from glory to glory. Let me be a true reformer β€” not judging others, but changed myself, and calling others to Your true life. In Jesus’ name β€” AMEN.”

βœ… DECLARATION

βœ… I am not just reformed β€” I am TRANSFORMED by the Holy Spirit.
βœ… My change comes from the inside out β€” heart first, then actions.
βœ… I am being renewed daily β€” from glory to glory.
βœ… I am a true reformer β€” pointing people to Jesus, not to rules or traditions.
βœ… Old things have passed away β€” behold, ALL things are new in Christ.
In Jesus’ name β€” AMEN.
