SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE
CORE TRUTH
Personal prayer is you bringing your heart before God; intercession is God placing His heart in you, then praying it through you for others. Both are vital—but intercession is the place where you lay down your own concerns to carry the burden of the Lord.
BIBLICAL FOUNDATION
“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.” — Ezekiel 22:30
“And when He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” — Revelation 5:8
PERSONAL PRAYER VS INTERCESSION
Personal Prayer Intercession
Focus: My needs, my walk, my growth Focus: His will, His people, His glory
Begins: “Lord, this is what I need…” Begins: “Lord, what do You want done?”
Draws you closer for your life Draws you into His heart for all
Necessary and holy The place of kingdom authority
WHAT IT MEANS TO STAND IN THE GAP
You step into the space between God’s perfect will and brokenness, between the enemy’s lies and God’s truth—not to change God’s mind, but to agree with what He already wills to do. Moses, Samuel, and Jesus Himself all stood in this gap.
PRAYER & DECLARATION
Father, I yield my own agenda today. Show me what You see, carry what You carry, and speak what You speak. Make me a faithful gap-stander for my family, my church, my community, and the nations. In Jesus’ name, amen.
