El-Shaddai – The God Who is More Than Enough.
Genesis 17:1
One of the first names God revealed about Himself to Abraham was El-Shaddai, which in English means God Almighty. It is also interpreted as The All-Sufficient One or The God Who is More Than Enough.
Beloved, it is not God’s will for His people to live in poverty or lack. However, how you see yourself determines what you become. If you see yourself poor, you will live poor; but if you see yourself rich in Christ, you will walk in that abundance.
One of my favorite scriptures says:
“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” – 2 Corinthians 8:9
Notice the word “might”. This shows that becoming rich is a matter of choice. The provision has been made available through Christ, but whether you walk in it or not depends on the choices you make. Sadly, some try to escape poverty by depending on human help, seeking a wealthy partner or relying on natural connections. But true deliverance from poverty does not come from man; it comes from our spiritual Helper, the Holy Spirit. One of His divine assignments is to lift you out of lack and bring you into God’s abundance.
Consider the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15). We are all prodigal sons and daughters who wandered away, but by God’s grace, we are restored. Notice the three powerful symbols the father gave the son upon his return:
- The Best Robe 👕
A symbol of restoration and honor. It signified that the son’s identity and status were fully reinstated after his shame. It was a covering of acceptance, approval, and divine protection. - The Ring 💍
The family seal granting authority. It restored the son’s legacy and responsibility within the household. With the ring, he could act on behalf of the family once again, just as God entrusts us with spiritual authority in Christ. - Sandals 👡🩴
In ancient times, slaves walked barefoot. Sandals were a clear sign that the son was restored not as a servant but as a free man, a full member of the family. Likewise, through Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary, we have been set free and restored as sons and daughters of God, no longer slaves to sin.
Beloved, you are no longer an outcast. You are clothed with honor, empowered with authority, and established in freedom. This is your inheritance in Christ, abundance, not lack; victory, not defeat; sonship, not slavery.
Admonition ✨
Stop seeing yourself as a victim of poverty or limitation. Shift your mindset to who you are in Christ, an heir of God and a joint-heir with Christ. Your future is not dependent on human helpers but on the Holy Spirit, your divine Helper. Trust Him, follow His leading, and walk in your inheritance.
Prayer 🙏
Heavenly Father, thank You for being El-Shaddai, the All-Sufficient One. Thank You for sending Jesus, who became poor so that I might be rich in every area of life. Today, I reject every mindset of poverty and limitation. I receive my robe of honor, my ring of authority, and my sandals of freedom. Holy Spirit, help me to walk daily in the abundance and fullness of my inheritance in Christ. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
