MODULE 2 — The Duties & Cost of a Gatekeeper

SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE

📖 Scripture

“I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” — Psalm 84:10

💡 Teaching

The gatekeeper’s duties are simple but weighty:

1\. Watch — remain alert, day and night, even when others sleep
2\. Open & Shut — receive what is of God; refuse what is not
3\. Protect — keep defilement, deception, and destruction from entering
4\. Preserve — guard the promises, the bloodline, and the blessings
5\. Discern — know the difference between a genuine visitor and a thief

There is a cost to being a gatekeeper. You may stand alone. You may be misunderstood. You may face opposition from within and without. Joseph was a gatekeeper of his family — he suffered betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment — but he never broke. Why? Because the gatekeeper carries the destiny of the house on his shoulders. If he falls, the family falls. If he stands, the family is preserved.

The enemy does not attack everyone equally — he focuses his fire on the gatekeepers. Because he knows: take out the gate, and the house is open.

🗣️ Prayer & Declaration

“Lord, I count it an honour to be a doorkeeper in Your house. I accept the cost of this calling. When the pressure comes, I will stand. When the loneliness comes, I will stand. When the opposition comes, I will stand. My strength is not in myself — it is in You. I carry the grace to endure. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

“I pay the price to stand. No weapon formed against my gate shall prosper. I endure as Joseph endured. I stand as the guardian of my generation. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
