Scripture: Romans 1:20; Psalm 19:1
Near Athens, Greece, beekeeper Isidoros Timinis placed Christian icons inside his hives to dedicate them to God. Normally, bees cover any foreign object with wax and honeycomb to seal it off. But here, they built comb all around the edges and background — yet never covered the faces or figures of Jesus, Mary, or the saints. Even on an icon of the Crucifixion, they left Christ and the Good Thief fully visible, while covering the unrepentant thief.
Spiritual Lessons:
-
Creation instinctively honours its Maker; if bees recognise and respect Christ, how much more should we receive His mercy?
-
Just as the bees left Christ uncovered, God’s grace is never hidden — it stands open, visible, and available to all.
-
Mercy is not earned; the bees did not qualify to be near the icon, yet they were allowed. We do not earn grace, but God freely gives it.
