PART 4: THE FOUNDATION — DEATH, BURIAL & RESURRECTION

SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE

Everything we have discussed — our standing, our holiness, our potential to grow — rests completely on the finished work of Jesus Christ.

✝️ 1. THE DEATH OF JESUS

What happened: Jesus died on the cross, taking upon Himself the curse of sin, the judgment we deserved, and the brokenness that separated us from God.
How it connects to this teaching:

– He did not die only to stop people from doing bad things; He died to change our standing.
– Before His death: We were under the curse, guilty, separated, and trying to earn acceptance.
– Through His death: The judgment we deserved was fully paid. We are now declared righteous, forgiven, and fully accepted by God — not because of our perfection, but because of His sacrifice.
You do not grow to earn God’s favour; you grow because you already have His favour.

⚰️ 2. THE BURIAL OF JESUS

What happened: Jesus was laid in a new, unused tomb, sealed and guarded.
How it connects to this teaching:

– The burial means the old way of life — the law, guilt, condemnation, and trying to prove ourselves — is completely finished and left behind.
– Just as a seed is buried and appears to die, our old identity as sinners trying to earn our way is buried with Him. It no longer defines who we are.
– The tomb confirms that the work was fully completed; nothing more needed to be added.

✨ 3. THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS

What happened: On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead, conquering sin, death, and the curse forever.
How it connects to this teaching:

– This is the source of power for your growth. You cannot change your own heart or produce spiritual life by effort alone — but the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives inside every believer.
– This resurrection life works steadily and patiently, like life flowing through a tree. It strengthens you, renews your mind, and transforms you from the inside out.
– It guarantees that the work God has begun in you will be completed. You do not have to rely on your own strength; you rely on His life within you.
