You are exactly right, Michael! God intentionally keeps certain things from us, limits what we can know, have, or do — so we never become proud, independent, or think we are self-sufficient. This is His loving protection and wise design.
Here is the full proof and list, exactly as Scripture teaches:
📜 1. SOME KNOWLEDGE IS KEPT SECRET — BELONGS ONLY TO GOD
Deuteronomy 29:29 📌
“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever.”
✅ Why? If we knew everything, we would act like God. Not knowing keeps us dependent, trusting, and humble.
✅ Example: We already saw it: Only the Father knows the day and hour — kept secret so no one exalts themselves or thinks they control time or destiny.
✅ Also: How God made the universe, all His plans, the full depths of His wisdom — we only know in part (1 Corinthians 13:12). This keeps us small and Him great.
Proverbs 25:2
“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.”
God hides things so we stay seekers, not owners — humble learners, not proud masters.
📜 2. SOME POWER / ABILITY IS LIMITED — SO WE RELY ON HIM
2 Corinthians 12:7–9 💥
“…I was given a thorn in my flesh… to keep me from becoming proud. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away. But He said to me: ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’”
✅ God refused to remove it — on purpose! He limited Paul’s strength, health, or freedom — to keep him humble and always needing God’s grace.
✅ We never get unlimited power, unlimited strength, unlimited authority — because we would misuse it and become arrogant.
✅ Our limits = our safety. When we are weak, we lean on Him — that is where true strength and humility live.
Daniel 4:29–37
God took Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom, his mind, his position — until he learned: “Those who walk in pride He is able to humble.” He gave it back only when the king acknowledged God is the Only Ruler.
📜 3. SOME WEALTH / POSSESSIONS ARE WITHHELD — SO WE LOVE GOD MORE THAN THINGS
Deuteronomy 8:2–3, 11–14 🥖
“Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness… to humble and test you… He gave you manna to eat… so you would learn that man does not live on bread alone but on every word from God. Be careful… when you eat and are satisfied… then your heart may become proud and you forget the Lord.”
✅ God controlled how much they had, kept them dependent daily — so abundance would not make them think: ‘I got this by my own power and strength.’
✅ Sometimes He keeps us from being too rich, too comfortable, too independent — because pride grows when we think we don’t need Him.
✅ Enough is enough — more than enough is dangerous to the heart.
Proverbs 30:8–9
“Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown You and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.”
📜 4. SOME STATUS / POSITION / HONOUR IS HELD BACK — SO WE EXALT GOD ALONE
Matthew 20:20–23 🪑
James and John wanted the highest seats in God’s Kingdom. Jesus said:
“To sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.”
✅ Jesus Himself did not take or give what the Father reserved.
✅ We cannot demand, reach for, or take certain titles, levels, or authority — God decides how high we go, exactly to keep us humble and submitted.
1 Peter 5:6 — “Humble yourselves under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.” — HE LIFTS YOU, you don’t lift yourself.
📜 5. SOME ANSWERS / DIRECTIONS ARE DELAYED OR NOT GIVEN — SO WE TRUST, NOT CONTROL
Isaiah 55:8–9 🧠
“‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.’”
✅ He does not explain everything, does not show every step, does not answer every ‘why’.
✅ If we knew every plan, we would run things our way. Not knowing forces us to walk by faith, not sight — the most humble way to live.
Romans 11:33–34
“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out! Who has known the mind of the Lord?”
📜 6. EVEN JESUS LIVED THIS WAY — OUR PERFECT EXAMPLE!
Philippians 2:5–8 🕊️
“…being in very nature God… He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant… He humbled Himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross!”
✅ He voluntarily gave up rights, glory, knowledge, power, comfort — to live fully dependent, fully humble, fully submitted to the Father.
✅ Matthew 24:36 — He laid down that knowledge of the hour, exactly to walk as man, trusting the Father.
✅ If the Son humbled Himself and accepted limits — how much more we must do the same!
✅ THESE ARE THE “SET THINGS” YOU CANNOT HAVE OR DO:
❌ You cannot know everything → keeps you trusting God.
❌ You cannot have unlimited power / strength → keeps you relying on His grace.
❌ You cannot have endless wealth / total independence → keeps you loving Him more than things.
❌ You cannot take or demand your own promotion / honour → keeps you submitted to His order.
❌ You cannot understand or control all His plans / ways → keeps you walking by faith, not sight.
💡 THE GREAT TRUTH:
These limits are not punishment — THEY ARE PROTECTION.
They keep you safe from pride, from falling, from thinking you are God.
They keep you close to Him — and God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble! (James 4:6)
📜 DECLARATION — I EMBRACE GOD’S WISE LIMITS
I DECLARE:
✅ I accept what God keeps secret — I trust His wisdom, I do not demand to know everything.
✅ I receive my limits in strength, ability, and resources — they keep me humble, dependent, and safe.
✅ I do not grasp for honour, position, or control — I wait for God to lift me up in His time.
✅ I am glad I am not God! I am glad I do not carry the weight of all knowledge or all power.
✅ I walk in humility, trusting what He has revealed, resting in what He has reserved, and fully relying on Him for everything.
IN JESUS’ NAME — AMEN AND AMEN! 🙌🔥
